75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

Often, we do not even realize that we are dehydrated until it is too late. Dehydration can lead to a range of health complications, including dizziness, fatigue, confusion, and rapid heart rate. In more severe cases, it can cause heat exhaustion, heatstroke, kidney failure, and seizures.

Here are some key signs that you are dehydrated.

  • Dry mouth and dry skin
  • Thirst
  • Dark Urine
  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness

Drinking enough water is not always easy.

Dehydration symptoms should not be ignored, especially as we age. It can be tough getting in enough water.  Luckily, we have some tips on additional ways to stay hydrated.

  • Eat watermelon - this is actually considered a Chinese herb with cooling properties to drain fire from the body.
  • Drink Peppermint tea - peppermint is cooling and will cool your internal temperature.
  • Eat Pears - Pears are a white fruit (inside) that helps nourish our lungs and body fluids.
  • Drink Coconut Water - this is a natural electrolyte without processed sugar.
  • Limit alcohol and caffeine - consider how hydrated you are before having a second cup of coffee or any evening glass of wine.

Hopefully, these hydration tips will help you slide through summer full of energy and vitality.
