Scoprion stings are now more common in the Las Vegas valley with so many new homes being built. Scorpions come indoors during cold weather and can slip through tiny spaces in doors, plumbing, canned lighting and vents.

You will know if you are stung immediately. It can feel like intense nerve pain - tingling, numb, radiating. Often there is a red ring or red area around the sting site, and it may swell. However, sometimes there is no mark nor swelling, making you wonder if you actually got stung!

Here are Quick Home Remedies

  • Slice a fresh onion in half and apply to the surface of the skin where the sting site is. Onions help draw out toxins, reduce swelling and help with pain.
  • Sit or lay down to contain the area where the poison is. Movement will allow the poison to travel more freely in your body.
  • Acupressure: Rub the area between your big toe and second toe on the top of your foot. Rub all the way down until you reach the bones of your feet. This acupressure point helps reduce inflammation.

When to Call the Doctor

  • If your pet is stung, call your vet immediately.
  • If you experience any allergic reactions, such as hives, intense swelling, shortness of breath, trouble swallowing, seizures, then get help immediately.

Acupuncture can also help flush out toxins in the body, reduce inflammation and eliminate pain. For more information, always feel free to reach out with questions or to book a private consultation. You will soon be back to living your best life!
